We have not been blogging for a couple of weeks…no excuses, but it has been manic around the house. Bramble, a blue merle pup has joined our small brood. His arrival was so absorbing that we did not quite have enough time to do anything else but feed, clean, play and stop him from chewing the furniture…although we seem to be losing the battle with the later.
It is said border collies are bright and need stimulating. You do not realise how true this is until you actually have one. He is well bored at home and loves outdoors, especially when chickens are let loose to graze. Bramble is besotted with the girls, especially his new friend Snowdrop (pictured above). Bramble is like her personal trainer making sure she gets enough exercise either by being chased or chasing the dog for nibbling at her tail feathers.
It is all fun right now but we have great hopes he eventually will be able to herd the chicks. Hopefully he has some natural instinct as his new owners do not seem to be good teachers sweating and puffing trying to get the chickens back to the coup before dark. The training circus continues…
